AI edit approval
The assistant · 2 min read
Choose how the assistant's edits reach your files: it applies them as it works and you can undo any turn (the default), or each turn's changes wait for you to apply them.
When you would want it
Most of the time you want the result, not a queue of diffs to approve. Applying automatically lets the assistant build, run and fix in one go - the way Cursor's agent does - and one click still takes a whole turn back. Review is there for the times you want to see a change before it lands.
Where to find it
- All Features → AI edit approval
- Settings
What you get out of it
- You get results, not a queue of diffs to approve: the assistant builds, runs and fixes in one go.
- Nothing is final: one click takes a whole turn back, and it never overwrites your own later edits without asking.
- The assistant is told which mode you are in, so it describes its work truthfully - done, or staged and waiting.
How to use it, step by step
- Ask for what you want. By default (Apply automatically) the assistant writes your files as it works - nothing to approve.
- When a turn changes files, the chat lists them in a card with an Undo button. Select a file in the card to open it.
- Undo puts every file back as it was before that turn and removes files the turn created. If you have edited one of them since, it asks before overwriting your change.
- Want to see changes before they land? Open the approval menu in the chat's composer - it reads Auto - and choose Review every change, or find AI edit approval in Settings.
- With Review on, edits are staged in an isolated copy of your project. When the turn ends, one card in the chat shows everything it changed, with Apply all changes, Discard and each file's diff. Changes in the sidebar lists anything still waiting.
Why this beats the usual way
Agent tools tend to either stop you at every edit or give you no way back. Agentfly applies edits as it works, keeps a per-turn Undo right in the conversation, and leaves review one click away for the times you want it.
