Understanding a project
Draw trees with connecting lines
Understanding a project · 1 min read
Little lines join each file to the folder it lives in, like a family tree, so you can see what is inside what.
When you would want it
Without them you have to judge nesting by how far a row is pushed across, which means counting pixels.
Where to find it
- All Features → Draw trees with connecting lines
- Turn on or off
- Settings
What you get out of it
- Nesting is readable at a glance instead of an estimation exercise.
- Deep module trees stop collapsing into a wall of indented names.
How to use it, step by step
- On by default - look at the file explorer.
- Connecting lines join each file to the folder it lives in.
- Turn it off in Settings for plain indentation instead.
Why this beats the usual way
Indentation-only trees make you measure depth by eye. Drawing the lines removes the measuring, which is all the treelines ever needed to do.
