Vibe sidebar
The workbench · 2 min read
The left side of the Vibe window: start a conversation, switch project, and see at a glance what has changed.
When you would want it
Vibe hides the editor, so something has to tell you that an agent is still working or what has changed. The Changes badge says so without opening anything, and every everyday workflow has a row of its own instead of hiding in a menu.
Where to find it
- All Features → Vibe sidebar
- Show or hide
- Keyboard → Ctrl+B
What you get out of it
- You find out an agent finished, or what changed, without opening a panel to check.
- Every everyday workflow has one visible row - nothing important hides in an overflow menu.
- Switching between projects is two clicks, with the branch and change count in view before you switch.
- The same sidebar works at any window size, from a full monitor to half a laptop screen.
How to use it, step by step
- Open Agentfly - the Vibe window's sidebar is on the left. Choose New conversation, or press Ctrl+Shift+N, to start fresh.
- Select the project card under the search box to switch to a recent project, open a folder, clone a repository, or see the project overview. The card shows the branch and how many files have changed.
- Watch the Changes badge: it counts the files you have not committed yet, and turns blue when something is waiting for you, such as a conflict.
- Switch the middle of the window with Chat, Agents and Tools: the conversation, the board of agents working in parallel, and the tools, MCP servers, skills and memory they use.
- Select Changes to open the Changes panel as a floating window - every changed file, its diff, and Commit & Push; select it again to close it.
- Use Preview to see the running app in a floating window, and Automations to schedule messages.
- Pick up an earlier conversation from the Conversations list, grouped by day; type in its search box to find one by anything said in it.
- Drag the sidebar's right edge to resize it, or press Ctrl+B to hide it. On a narrow window it becomes a drawer: open it with the menu button at the top left or Ctrl+B, and close it with Escape.
Why this beats the usual way
Chat-first coding tools tend to show a list of conversations and little else, so you poll the diff view to learn whether anything happened. The Vibe sidebar puts project, branch, running work and uncommitted changes in one glance, next to the conversation that caused them.
