Bracket pair colorization
Editing · 1 min read
Brackets get colours. The one that opens and the one that closes are the same colour, so you can see which goes with which.
When you would want it
When code is nested several layers deep, finding the bracket that closes the one you are looking at means counting. Colour turns counting into looking.
Where to find it
- All Features → Bracket pair colorization
- Turn on or off
- Settings
What you get out of it
- Matching a bracket to its partner becomes spotting a colour, not counting depth.
- Works everywhere - code, config, JSON - with no per-language setup.
How to use it, step by step
- Nothing to do - it is on. Look at any nested expression.
- Each bracket and its partner share a colour; deeper levels take the next colour.
- If the colours ever feel noisy, switch it off in Editing settings.
Why this beats the usual way
Editors that colour every bracket the same force you to count. Colour-coding by depth turns bracket-matching from an exercise into a glance.
