The assistant
The assistant sees your app
The assistant · 3 min read
The assistant opens the web app you are building in a browser of its own, looks at any page, clicks and types through it like a visitor, and fixes what it finds.
When you would want it
An assistant that only reads code has to guess whether a page works. Looking at it - the words on screen, the errors in the console, the requests that failed, a screenshot - turns "it should work" into "I checked, and it works", and it catches the broken image or the button that does nothing before you do.
Where to find it
- All Features → The assistant sees your app
- Check my running app
What you get out of it
- "It works" means the assistant saw it work, not that the code looked right.
- Broken images, 404s and console errors are caught by the assistant before a visitor finds them.
- Phone layouts get checked at a real phone width (390 pixels), not guessed from CSS.
- It tests flows, not just pages: fill the form, press the button, read what came back.
- Models that cannot read images still get the full text report, so this works with any provider.
How to use it, step by step
- Open a web project - plain HTML files, or a Vite, Next or other framework project - and connect a model in Connect a model.
- Ask in plain words: "check the signup form works", "look at the pricing page on a phone", or "open the about page". Or type /check in the composer, or run AI: Check My Running App from the command palette.
- The assistant starts the live preview if it is not running (your framework's dev server, or a plain file server) and waits until it has an address.
- It loads the page in a browser of its own, clicks and types through it the way you described, and reads what happened: the text on screen, console errors, failed requests, broken images, and anything spilling sideways at phone width.
- It fixes what it found and looks again to confirm. The latest screenshot it took sits in the conversation under What the assistant saw, with how many problems it found - click it to open that page in the preview.
- When it opens a page for you, the preview card in the chat and an open preview window both go to that page. You can do the same yourself: click the preview's address, type /about.html and press Enter.
Why this beats the usual way
Most AI editors stop at the code: you run the app, look at it, and paste the error back in. Browser extensions for agents need installing, a separate server, and permission prompts. In Agentfly the assistant already has a browser that opens only your own local addresses and forgets everything when it closes, so checking the page is part of finishing the job rather than a job left for you.
