Sticky scroll
Editing · 1 min read
As you scroll down inside a long function, its name stays stuck at the top of the editor so you never lose track of where you are.
When you would want it
Two hundred lines into a file, the thing you most want to know is which function you are inside. Scrolling back up to check is how you lose your place.
Where to find it
- All Features → Sticky scroll
- Turn on or off
- Settings
What you get out of it
- You never lose which function you are inside, however deep in it you scroll.
- The pinned headers double as one-click navigation back up.
How to use it, step by step
- Turn it on in Editing settings - it is off by default.
- Scroll down inside a long function.
- The enclosing context - function, class, loop headers - stays pinned at the top.
- Click a stuck line to jump straight back to it.
Why this beats the usual way
Scroll-up-to-check is the default workflow everywhere without this, and it costs your place twice. Pinning the context removes the question entirely.
