Image preview
The workbench · 1 min read
Click an image file and it shows as a picture instead of text.
When you would want it
Opening a PNG as text shows garbage characters. A picture is what you actually want to check.
Where to find it
- All Features → Image preview
- Open image preview
What you get out of it
- Images stop opening as garbage text - what you see is the picture itself.
- File size and pixel dimensions are shown beside the name, so asset checks need no other tool.
- Previews are read-only, so there is nothing to accidentally save over.
How to use it, step by step
- Open a folder that contains images - png, jpg, gif, webp, svg, ico, or bmp.
- Click any image in the Explorer. It previews in the editor area with its file size and dimensions.
- Switch tabs to move between images and code; previews are cached so going back is instant.
- Use File > Open Image Preview or the command palette to pick an image directly.
Why this beats the usual way
Editors without this make you leave for the file manager or a browser to check an asset. Agentfly previews images where your code is, in the same tab strip, with no setup and no plugins.
